Adult Horsemanship

At MTHW, we believe it’s never too late to begin your horsemanship journey.

Our Adult Horsemanship Program is designed for riders of all experience levels — from complete beginners stepping into the saddle for the first time to experienced riders looking to refine their skills and deepen their connection with horses.

Whether your goal is to build confidence, overcome fear, improve communication, or simply enjoy time in the saddle, our knowledgeable instructors and trusted horses provide a supportive, encouraging environment where you can learn at your own pace.

At Montana Horse Works, horsemanship is about far more than riding. Our lessons focus on understanding horse behavior, developing effective communication, improving balance and feel, and building a respectful partnership between horse and rider.

We combine traditional horsemanship values with modern, evidence-based teaching methods to create a well-rounded learning experience for both Western and English disciplines.

No matter your age or background, we’re here to help you grow your confidence, strengthen your skills, and experience the rewarding connection that comes with true horsemanship.

Let's Ride!

New here? Everyone starts with private lessons at our barn. This one-on-one time enables us to get to know each other's style, experience, and level of comfort. After that, you can continue to build skills with private horsemanship lessons or move to a group class.

After you've completed your initial private lesson and established your basic horsemanship skills, you are welcome to join our group classes. Riders should be able to catch, saddle, and walk/trot independently.
